An exciting new opportunity at Smile Together Dental CIC to support our continuing business growth and development. The role will be managing and supporting the IT team and will coordinate, publicise and monitor information handling to a high standard throughout the organisation and in relation to individual teams and projects.

Job Title:                                            IT / Information Governance Lead

Salary:                                                £26,260 - £30,300 per annum depending on experience

Hours:                                                37.5 hours (Full time)

Responsible and accountable to     Finance Director

Role summary:

The role of the IT and Information Governance Lead is to manage the IT team and the requirements of the organisation for both IT and Information Governance (IG).

Key accountabilities:

  • Supporting and managing the Systems Admin (IT) team
  • Ensure a log of all IT issues across the company is maintained, and the appropriate reports are generated
  • Ensuring all existing IT hardware and software is recorded and mapped accurately across all sites
  • Investigating all IT incidents and downtime, in conjunction with our IT providers, and providing a report on reasons and recommended mitigating actions
  • Ensure that an annual assessment of the organisation’s performance against the requirements in the IG Toolkit is completed
  • Ensure that an IG plan is in place for each IG Toolkit requirement to enable improvements to be made or maintained against the assessment
  • Ensure policy and procedures are reviewed on an annual basis and arrange for amendment as necessary
  • Raise awareness of the importance of IG throughout the organisation and encourage all staff that hold, obtain, record, use and share information to participate in raising IG standards
  • Maintain and update own knowledge of developments in information management and in national records management systems
  • Monitor the organisation’s information handling activities to ensure compliance with law and guidance.
  • Assist with investigations into complaints about breaches of confidentiality, Data Protection Act 1998 or Freedom of Information Act 2000 provisions and undertake reporting/remedial action as required, under GDPR this would be the Data protection officer role. Maintain a log of any incidents and remedial recommendations and actions.

Knowledge, Education and Training:

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including MS Excel, Outlook and Access
  • Working knowledge of Networks and Server Management
  • IT Support Experience – 1st Line or 2nd Line support
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current issues in information management in the healthcare setting
  • Information Management qualification
  • Demonstrable experience of planning and implementing organisational culture change
